School runs Monday to Thursday, from 08:30 to 16:00.

Reporting an absence
If your child is ill or will not be in school, please tell us before 08:15, on every day of absence rather than only the first.
Call 02037730102, or email absence@thefountainschool.london, to notify us if your child will be late or absent.
Please tell us your child's name and why they are unable to come to school, as we are required to record the reason.
If we have not heard from you by 09:00 we will call you, and then your other emergency contacts, so please make sure we always hold at least two working numbers.
Appointments. Please arrange them outside school hours where you can. Where you cannot, please let us know in advance.
Any other absence should be requested in advance and comes to the Headmaster. We do not normally authorise holidays in term time, particularly given that we operate a four-day week school where our children are already in school fewer days than most.
School Uniform
The Fountain’s uniform is an expression of our unity and of the dignity of the calling of a pupil to grow in wisdom and virtue.
Stitch Design is the school’s official uniform supplier and items are available to purchase online. All students must wear school uniform in accordance with the published list.
Please label everything with your child’s name. We ask that pupils do not wear jewellery and that hair accessories are simple and in school colours (navy, black, grey or brown).

The Fountain partners with a professional local catering company to provide hot, healthy and nutritious meals and snacks for all students.
Each day, students will have a morning and afternoon snack alongside their hot lunchtime meal. Provision will include fresh fruit daily.
Cost for hot lunch and all snacks and drinks is: £3.90/day or £15.60/week, payable termly in advance alongside school fees.
We recognise that some children may have an allergy or intolerance to one of the 14 common food allergens. We have a robust process in place to ensure this information is shared with all staff members and external catering parties.
Here is the current menu being served (excludes Fridays).
Packed lunches are welcome if you would prefer. We are a nut-free school.

A pair of named wellies (to leave at school at the start of term).
Please ensure every uniform item is labelled and named.

FAQs
Arrival, departure and the site

We are on the Westminster Chapel site, Buckingham Gate, SW1E 6BS.
Please use the entrance on Castle Lane, where a member of staff will greet you. Our precise entrance location on Castle Lane looks like this, and the what3words location is here: https://w3w.co/pile.rugs.along.
Drop off and pick up are at the same entrance. We do not use the front of Westminster Chapel.

Doors open at 8:10am and the register is taken at 8:30am. Please do not arrive before 8:10, as the doors will not yet be open.
Collection at the end of the day is at 4:00pm.

Only the adults you have named on your child's record when you filled out the Entry Form. If someone else is collecting who has not been named on record, email or message us at info@thefountainschool.london before 3pm that day with their name.
We are unable to release a child to an adult if we have not been told about it in writing, regardless of how well they know your child (e.g. another parent at the school). -
If you are running late but will still arrivebefore 9am, please ring 020 3773 0102 so a member of staff can come down and open the door and let your child in.
After 9am, the register has closed and it is recorded as an absence. Please email absence@thefountainschool.london if you know you will be delayed past 9am.If you are running late for pick-up at 4pm, please let us know ASAP.
Illness and absence

Email absence@thefountainschool.london before 8:15am on each day your child is off, with a brief reason.
If we have not heard from you by 9am we will ring you, and then your emergency contacts, because we need to know every child is safe.
For absences of more than three days, we may ask for a doctor's note.
Please arrange any medical appointments outside school hours where you can. Where you cannot, please let us know in advance.

48 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhoea, even if they seem fine. The NHS 'Is my child too ill for school?' page is a good guide for everything else: colds and coughs are fine to come in with, a high temperature is not.

No. Term-time holiday is not authorised, and we ask you to use Fridays, weekends and the school holidays. Genuinely exceptional circumstances (a bereavement, a family wedding) can be requested in writing to the Headmaster at least a week in advance.
Fridays

Friday is a family day so please do whatever is best for your family. We will inform you of our general homework expectations - including maths, reading, and longer projects - and these may be done on Friday if you wish.
Food and drink

Yes. Please bring a water bottle every day, named, and with water only. It goes home each night to be washed and refilled.

For families who have selected the catered option, we provide both their morning and afternoon snack, so those children are not to bring their own snack.
For those who are bringing packed lunches, please bring two pieces of fruit. -
You are very welcome to bring in cake or treats for your child’s birthday!
Please follow the following procedure so that we can ensure the birthday cake/treats are safe for all pupils to enjoy:
1. Please email the school in advance to let us know you plan to bring in birthday cake/treats.
2. The school will reply with the most up to date information about our pupils’ allergies.
3. Please reply to confirm that the cake/treats will not contain the relevant allergens. Without this confirmation, we will not be able to serve the cake/treats to pupils.
4. Please exclude all nuts. We are a nut-free school, so we do not allow food with any nuts on the school site at all times, including in birthday cake.
Uniform

All pupils have PE on Thursday afternoons. Children come to school already dressed in their PE kit to school so there is no changing on site. Full uniform is worn on the other three days.

As toileting accidents happen, we recommend that you pack a spare change of clothes for children (especially Reception age) which can stay in the child’s school bag.
Every child needs named wellies, kept at school, for wet weather.
All pupils must wear the school storm jacket and knitted hat as their outdoor wear, rather than their own coat and hat. We walk to St James's Park twice a day, and matching outdoor wear means every child is easily recognised and accounted for. -
No jewellery of any kind, including stud earrings, and no watches, including smartwatches.
Nothing decorative on any other parts of the body, including no nail varnish or transfer tattoos. Please keep hair its natural colour.
Girls’ hair: Hair accessories (hair ties, slides, clips, pins, braid beads) must be plain in design, functional, and not decorative. Colours must be dark e.g. navy, brown, black, and dark gray, to complement the school uniform. We recommend the school headband which is available from the office (£29). Hair that reaches the shoulders is tied back.
Boys' hair: Hair should be neat, clean and of a moderate length: above the collar, clear of the eyes and not covering the ears. A simple, conservative style is expected; avoid extreme contrasts in length (for example a closely shaved back and sides with a long top), shaved lines or patterns, and eye-catching styles of the moment. Naturally curly or similar types of hair must also be of moderate length.

The school may contact you by SMS occasionally; this will come up on your phone as being from ‘The Fountain’. This number does not receive replies, so please do not reply to it, as no one will be able to read or respond to your message.
